England rugby star, Joe Marler has been suspended for 10 weeks for grabbing Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones by the genitals during last weekend’s Six Nations match at Twickenham.
The act was deemed to be against the spirit of good sportsmanship by the independent citing commissioner at a disciplinary hearing in Dublin.
Marler was found guilty of “grabbing, twisting or squeezing” Jones’s genitals following the bizarre incident with the Wales captain during the first half of England’s 33-30 victory.
The ban under World Rugby rules for "grabbing, twisting or squeezing the genitals" is 12 weeks, but due to mitigating factors including “good character” and “remorse”,the committee reduced the ban but then added a week because of Marler's most recent disciplinary record.
