The only wealthy man close to Bezos’ mouth watery $140 billion (N54,070,800,000,000) net worth is Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates, who is valued at about $102 billion (N39,394,440,000,000), 22 Words reports. Born in New Mexico in 1964, the Amazon chief has always been passionate about computers and that influenced his decision to study computer science and electrical engineering at Princeton University.
Some years into school, he quit and started an online bookshop from his garage called Amazon in 1995. The initial success of the business was inspiring as it sold across 45 countries within the first 30 days.
It should be noted that his wealth has been increasing over the past five years at an average yearly growth of 34% despite losing around $38 billion to his ex-wife, MacKenzie Bezos. When Comparisun looked at 25 world’s richest individuals, only 11 were found to have a shot at becoming a trillionaire in their lifetime.
Bezos is most likely to get there before any of them, while Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg could be the youngest to reach the mark. Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Bezos seems to have picked interest in things to spend his money on aside space travel. About two years ago, the Amazon CEO said that he would only be putting his wealth into space travel or nothing else.
The Amazon boss and his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, reportedly went hunting for houses in Bel Air and Beverly Hills as they considered a 40,000 square feet property at the cost of $225 million (N81,675,000,000). In 2019, he also got three condos in Manhattan for $80 million (N29,040,000,000).
In November 2019, Quartz also reports that the billionaire bought Hurting the Word Radio #2 by Ed Ruscha at Christie’s for $52.5 million (N19,057,500,000) and Vignette 19 by Kerry James Marshall at Sotheby’s for $18.5 million (N6,715,500,000).
