Hotel Manager Killed And 8 kidnapped In Delta State

Gunmen have killed a hotel manager and kidnapped eight persons in Issele-Azagba, a community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The deceased identified simply as Emeka was the manager of High Hope Guest House.
The incident occured at about 8pm on Wednesday, and it is coming on the heels of the release of Mrs. Helen Benwari, who was kidnapped penultimate week, after killing her husband, Daniel ABenwari, and inflicting bullet injuries on her daughter.
Edozie Ogoegbu, a youth leader,  who spoke with reporters, said, “Our main demand to  the state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, is for the establishment of a police station in the community..
“We also want the state government to stand up to its responsibilities of protecting life and property in our community. Repeated attacks by killer herdsmen remain a major source of concern.
We have been facing serious security challenges in the community. Our people are being killed, raped and farm produce destroyed daily, yet nothing is being done to stop the mayhem.
“Nobody is safe anymore in this community with hunger and starvation imminent as farmers are no longer going to farm for fear of being killed or raped. That is why we are on a peaceful protest to register our grievance over the attacks.
“Our vigilante group has been overpowered by herdsmen armed with sophisticated weapons. So, we are begging the Nigeria police to, as a matter of urgency, establish a police station in the community.
“The woman who was abducted for four days, after her husband was shot, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, for treatment.”
Kidnapping peaked in the area in November, 2019 when Issele-Azagba Mixed Secondary school was raided, leading the state government to order immediate fencing of the institution.
Commissioner of Police Hafiz Inuwa did not return calls to his phone.
